Simple DIY SEO Tips

If given the choice, today many people would avoid paying for SEO expert services, or any web SEO services really. People see website SEO services as something that is a bit too pricey to leave in the hands of someone else, even if that person is a part of a professional SEO service.

We think that this isn’t the attitude anyone needs to have; an SEO services provider knows what they’re doing and they can be an asset even if you choose to keep them as a consultant only.

For those who prefer to take things into their own hands and forgo the use of an SEO service provider, we have a few DIY SEO tips for you to help you get started on ranking your website!

1) Do your research – We cannot emphasize this one enough. Research, homework, whatever you want to call it, you need to do it before getting started on any kind of SEO effort. Trying to launch an SEO campaign without proper research and planning is like trying to cross the country on a road trip without a map or any idea what kind of fuel to put in your car.

2) Optimize your website first – Before you do anything else with the keyword and data research and analysis you have done, optimize your website. There is a lot of information out there about how to accomplish this task; just avoid any advice from real estate SEO services as they tend to have very poor looking and poorly optimized websites. There are some that do not, but for the most part they are reminders of a period of web design and optimization long past.

3) Create content for your website – You can do this most easily by creating a blog. If you don’t have or want a blog, you can publish some of your content to social media channels where you are a member, or ask other bloggers if they would look at some of your work and let you know if it was suitable for guest posting on their blog.

4) Build links carefully – Ever since the Penguin update first came out links have been in decline. They are still useful and going strong, even after the Penguin 2.0 update hitting in Late May / Early June 2013, we just have to be much more careful about how links are built.

And that’s all for now! If you would like more SEO tips, stay tuned, we will be adding more soon!
